From the Minister to Students and Education

Over the past couple of months, I have profited greatly from study-ing Scripture with a small group of Winstanley men. Every Tuesday evening we gather in my home for about an hour and a half to study the book of Colossians before ending with a short time of prayer. I have found our discussions to be rich and meaningful as we seek to better understand God’s word and apply it to our lives. I appreciate how we have a fairly wide age range, which spans from the 30’s to the 60’s. This means that our group benefits from a variety of perspectives, and younger men in the church can learn and gain insight from the more seasoned.

The verse above implies that we all need to be taught, reproved, corrected, and trained in right-eousness no matter where we are in life. The Bible alone is sufficient for these things. God has given us his word in order that we would be equipped for every good work. We will greatly profit from the Bible in our private study, as we sit under the preached word, and as we attend Sunday school. All of these have particular strengths, and we ought to seize every opportunity to grow from them. And yet another opportunity to consider for growing in God’s word, for the men in our church, would be a men’s Bible study. Men, would you consider being a part of one in the near future? If this is something that interests you, please see me.
